Poingdestres' Pete Newman ran out a comfortable winner of the eighth round of The Nigel Turner/Thomsons Financial Planning Sunday series on Broadlands Lower and Match Lake.

He took a superb 70lb 8oz of mainly carp from peg 7 on the Lower Lake. Newman booked his place in next month's final by fishing a method feeder with maggot on the hook tight to the island.

Cormorant's Rick Kajko, enjoying a good run of results this year, finished second with 57lb 12oz of mainly bream from peg 14 on the Match Lake, with Carbotech's Lee Woodhouse third with 49lb 13oz off the next peg. Others: M. Maidment (Davis Tackle) 46lb 2oz, C. White (Hansfords) 43lb 6oz, S. Halliday (Wimbourne) 38lb 12oz.

With two matches left in the series, Homestores Select's Ray Hayward still looks to have the individual points championship in his grasp with a total of 271, but Carbotech's Lee Woodhouse on 258 is creeping closer, while Marc Illingworth on 252 could in theory still raise a threat.

The T.V.A.C. junior match on King's Lake saw an outstanding performance in the over-13 year class by Phil Carbis, 13, son of match secretary Cliff.

Carbis took 14 carp plus 10lb of rudd to weigh in a mighty 50lb 6oz on a mixture of pole and whip tactics. Mike Green finished second with 19lb. In the nine to 12 year class, Scott Rogers scored a comfortable victory with 18lb 3oz of small carp on the waggler to beat brother Dan Rogers with 6lb 15oz. In the under-8s, four-year-old Lucy Palmer Abeley, assisted by dad Andy, weighed in 16lb 2oz of carp and rudd.

Homestores Select's Graham Tappenden suffered a bad start to the latest Stoneham evening series fixture breaking his pole on his first fish of the night.

The class angler he is, victory was still assured with a 26lb 8oz bag of carp on the waggler and pellet and corn. Team-mate Paul Sears finished second with 15lb 3oz and Paul White third with 13lb 3oz and Kev Downer fourth with 11lb 7oz.

The latest Ringwood & District Toyota Clubman qualifier on Hightown saw Sean Seabright finish well clear of his field with a fabulous 65lb 8oz of bream taken on the feeder and worm and corn to book his place in the Stoneham final.

Paul Miller finishede second with 28lb 5oz of tench and bream on the pole and caster, with Kev Miller third with 21lb 3oz.
