THE highly-acclaimed British Superbike Championship which powers back to Thruxton on Sunday, has developed into a two-horse race between Ducati riders Steve Hislop and John Reynolds.

Only 13 points separate the riders, with flying Scot Hislop currently in the driving seat after a double win at Brands Hatch in the last round.

Reynolds' Red Bull Ducati team-mate James Haydon is a past winner at Thruxton and could throw a spanner in the works, with Kawasaki's Steve Plater among the dark horses.

Racing starts at 12.10 with the superbike races at 13.00 and 15.30. The bill includes the British 250 and Supersport Championship which includes two good Hampshire prospects in Kenny Tibble (250) and Elliot Burgess (Supersport).

Sponsors First Quote Insurance have come up trumps on a new R6 Yamaha for Burgess and the Alresford rider is hoping for his first top-ten finish of the season for his Slipstream Racing team who parade young Alton prospect Ian Hopcroft in the Junior Superstock event.
