SOUTHAMPTON'S Simon Plummer marked his first road race of the year with victory in the Ringwood 5K.
The race went ahead despite restrictions on movements around the UK due to the foot and mouth epidemic and entry was slightly up on previous years.
Southampton Running Club sent a strong contingent with Plummer leading the field home in 15 minutes and three seconds, ahead of the New Forest Runners' Lee Rodriguez.
SRC also claimed the team prize with Billy Isaacs returning a brilliant run for sixth in 16.20, Pete Davis 9th (16.31), Neil Hotson 10th and top veteran (16.46) and Rob Thompson placing 12th in 16.59 after a three-month injury and illness lay-off.
Steve Torrance was 17th and third veteran (17.18), Mike Smith 21st and second over-50 vet (17.38), Graeme McRobert 29th (18.30), Derek Warn 51st (19.29), Paul Miller 78th (21.31) and Jacky Kemp179th (37.30).
Basingstoke & Mid Hants won the women's team event, spearheaded by the overall winner Amanda Proctor in 17.14.
