FASHION students at Winchester School of Art are proving they are in the fast lane to success by teaming up with a Hampshire BMW dealership.

Part of their degree course work will be designing a "lifestyle" range of leisurewear and accessories for sale at Scotthall BMW's showrooms.

In their second year, students have to take on commercial projects with a business partner.

According to the School of Art, the luxury car dealership's support is worth an estimated £4,000. Scotthall BMW has also offered a cash prize for the best design and marketing project, and will host an end of year exhibition of the students' work at its showrooms.

School of Art project co-ordinator Markus Biggs said: "We are very pleased to announce this unique collaboration with Scotthall BMW, and thank them for their generous support.

"Experience in the commercial sector is essential for students wanting to make their career in the fashion world, and at the same time, our students have a lot to offer to business by way of design flair and fashion ideas."

General manager at Scotthall Hampshire, Paul Atkinson, is very pleased with the partnership.

"We are delighted to be involved with Winchester School of Art," he said.

"We are sure the creative talents of the students will assist us greatly in developing our retailing and merchandising skills with the Lifestyle range, at the same time, giving the students the benefit of working with a large and successful business like ours."
