SNOWS E closed to within two points of Four Ts in the Kings Volvo Southampton Table Tennis League's after chalking up a 6-4 win over their rivals in a top-of-the-table Division One clash.

Second-placed Snows have a game in hand on Four Ts.

For Snows Dick Hayes was again unbeaten supported by Anne Longland and Pete Brown with one win each. Martin Ceresa won twice for Four T's, while Ken Palmer and Mark Kimber each won once.

Mid-table game between Waterside B and Ord. Survey A, gave Waterside B a sound 8-2 victory. Geoff Willis scored a maximum while Malcolm Bunce and Julie Eldridge both only lost once. For O.S. Ivan McMorran and Bob Pollard each won once.

Fourth place Alpha C are now pushing for a promotion place after defeating Insurance A 7-3. Andy Tunks, David Praine and Ben Hibbard each won twice. For Insurance Pete Richardson won twice and Chris Bone won once.

Waterside C who are in third place could go to the top of the table if they win their games in hand. This week they beat Waterside D 8-2, Idris Vernall and Rob Carr each scored a maximum, while Rob Doe won twice. Mark Waughman won the only singles for Waterside D, and with Albert Harding they won the doubles.

Waterside D have recorded their first victory by defeating Hedge End A 6-4. For Waterside Mark Waughman scored his first maximum of the season while Albert Harding and Tony Tidswell each chipped in with one win. Colin Butt, Martin Cheffy and reserve Terry Mills each won once for Hedge End and one game was conceded by Waterside.

In Division Two, BAT B were held to a 5-5 draw by bottom side Waterside G.

Richard McClure and Vitek Ottembrajt each won twice and Keith Green won once for BAT. For Waterside Scott Ashmore won twice, while Luke Riche and Mark Heathorne won once.

NF Nalgo A gained a good 7-3 victory when they visited Hedge End B. Terry Littlewood and Bernie Leamore were both undefeated, supported by one game from Garry Drodge for the Nalgo side. Graham Mitchell and Ted Baker each won once for Hedge End.

Waterside E suffered another defeat against Snows G, who they had to beat to give themselves a chance to stay in the Division.

In the 6-4 defeat David Goodyer, John Stubbs and Rowland Spence-Smith each won once for Waterside while Keith Hewitt scored a maxumim, Sue Hibbard won twice and Roger Best won once for Snows.

Woolston A hold on to second place after defeating Four T's B 7-3, Coling Browning, John Butcher and Lee Rosamond each won twice for the victors, while Des Ely won twice and David Cosway won once for Four T's.
