THE United Services Point-to-Point meeting takes place at Larkhill on Saturday and a good day's racing is expected with 165 entries for the seven races on the card.

The highlight is the Coronation Cup Mixed Open, one of the season's top races and won in recent years by such stars as Border Burg, Fantus and Cavalero.

The Members' race begins proceedings at 12.00 and pick of the eight entries may be last year's winner Copper Coil, likely mount of Dominic Alers-Hankey, and Tales Of Bounty, owned by Ray Geddes who won the Army Saddle Club Members race with Ciara's Prince. With the Richard Barber stable hitting form, Tales of Bounty gets the nod.

Twenty-two are entered for Division 1 of the Restricted, including Drumdoney and It's Beyond belief, both winners over the course a fortnight ago. John Keighley's Rushing Again was joint favourite when pulled up on the same card, but this promising horse may be worth another chance.

Division 2 of the Restricted promises to be a very competitive contest. Course winner Fate A Compli, Labula Bay, Quit The Creek, Rimpton Boy and Wild Native, third at the Royal Artillery, all have claims. However, the North Ledbury-qualified Moonlighter was a recent winner under Geoff Barfoot-Saunt at Black Forest Lodge and may be the one here.

The Coronation Cup has attracted a high quality entry of 36, including Rectory Garden, beaten just a neck in last year's contest. Rachel David's Fair Wind, Ann Tory's Oh So Quiet and Bernard Pike's Possible Pardon, so unlucky a fortnight ago, will all have their supporters, while Louise Alner has a strong hand with Man Of Steele, Miss O'Grady, Secret Bid, Unsinkable Boxer and Aberfoyle Park who needs to win one more Open to qualify for the Cheltenham Foxhunters. One Of The Natives really caught the eye when winning here a fortnight ago and may fight out the finish with Aberfoyle Park.

Sir Richard Sutton's Peasedown Tofana and John Symes' Castle Avenue will have their supporters in the Intermediate. There could be a strong Midlands challenge with Cherokee run, Goawayout of that, Philtre and Romany Chat all having claims. Lucky Joe, a recent dead-heater at Mollington, is a cautious selection. The two Divisions of the Open Maiden complete the card. Beyond Control, Jenski, Kingston-Banker and Maybe The Business will be popular choices for Div 1.

The course is NW of Amesbury on Salisbury Plain, easily reached off the A303 or A345. First race 12.00.

Sunday's South Dorset meeting at Milborne St Andrew fell victim to the weather and has been rescheduled for February 18. Entries stand.
