Saints fan Shane Paddington will sell you a programme before a match at The Dell - and if you ask him really nicely he might even sign it for you.

That's because 18-year-old Shane bears more than a passing resemblance to James Beattie and was once stopped by some fans outside the ground and asked to sign their programme.

"I probably would have but I didn't have a pen," he joked.

For Shane the comparisons with James all started after the Everton match when he (Beattie!) scored and Saints stayed up - and he's even fooled a few Saints players - including Beattie.

"I was in Jumping Jaks a few weeks ago," he explained "and Matthew Le Tissier was there and came across because he thought I was James.

"When James turned up even he thought I looked like him.

"He even bought me a drink because I told him I'd been betting money on him to score but he hadn't that day.

"But all night I had people coming up to me thinking I was him."

This is Shane's first season selling programmes at The Dell and his motivation was simple.

"My dad Dave sells them as well and my season ticket came up for renewal. He said not to bother because they were looking for another seller so now I get to see the games for free.

"It's a nightmare when it's wet. You have to put all the programmes in bin bags and have people moaning when you give them back wet fivers, but it's good fun really.

"And I do get a few funny looks sometimes like 'what's James Beattie doing selling programmes?' I don't mind looking like him - I just wish I had his wages."

If you want to see the evidence at first hand for yourself then you can normally find Shane outside the Archers Road End on matchdays while James will be inside the Archers Road playing.

And so ends our lookalikes - for a little while at least.

Others to leave you with - contributed, not mine it's important to stress - are Lionel Richie and Tahar El Khalej, as well as Kevin Davies and the lad who played Oliver in the original Oliver Twist movie!
