Southampton boss Glenn Hoddle has declared an interest in returning to international management.

He said: "I'm still young enough and I would love the particular challenge of international football.

"It would probably not be with England but with another country. Somewhere like the USA would be a great challenge one day.

"Purely on a football front, I'd take the England job again, but I wouldn't consider it if the people who didn't support me were still at the FA."

The 42-year-old had his contract as England coach was terminated after remarks made relating to disabled people.

But he insists he bears no scars from the events which led to his dismissal.

"The England episode was never going to finish me," he added. "I have too strong a will.

"It's not a question of trying to prove myself again as a coach. I didn't lose the job for footballing reasons.

"If I'd lost four or five on the trot, I'd have held my hands up and said I understood the position.

"I haven't thought for one second that what I am trying to achieve at Southampton will show people what I am made of."
