CONVERSATION was the last thing you could enjoy at The Cricketers in Tangley on Saturday night at a belated and noisy celebration of Burns Night. The isolated country pub was packed with kilt-wearing invaders from over the border who burst through the door with bagpipes swirling and platters piled high with haggis and neep. Everyone in the vicinity with the prefix Mac or even Mc to their name, took the opportunity to join in. Landlord Ed Simpson, recovering after an unusually hectic evening, could only comment 24 hours later: "It was a hoot."
