Hamble Parish Council has cleared the way for land-based events to go ahead as part of this year's Hamble Week.
This year's festival of sailing events and shore-based activities is set to run from June 30 to July 8 and secretary of Hamble Week (Land) Committee, Sally Whitcombe, has already sought the village authority's help for the week of fun.
At the council's latest meeting she asked for the council's support in principle for the closure of the foreshore car park on July 7 to stage a market plus the siting of a marquee on the foreshore to house a bar.
Additional requests were for a funfair on the village green, for the donkey derby field to be used for additional car parking and for bunting to be put up around the village.
Parish clerk Kate Cullen said permission was granted in principle pending the receipt of full details.
