For the first time in the Saints pages history we are running a competition with a prize - and it involves the chance to be nasty about Pompey. What could be better?

With the help of Saints fan Trevor Phillips we have come up with a great contest - another shirt vote - only this time for what Pompey should wear next season.

Of course I needn't remind you what an active interest the Skates took in our vote even though they lost and now it's time for revenge.

All you have to do is pick your 'favourite' from the shirt ideas listed below and if you're drawn randomly from the hat then you could win a replica Alan Ball flat cap.

Incidentally we won't be drawing the entries from the prize - it may be our first competition but we're not that cheap.

The choices:

1) Shirt number one is made from only the finest hemp and has a 'retro' feel to remind Portsmouth supporters of the glory days. It is an almost exact replica of an outfit found on the Mary Rose.

2) Shirt number two sums up the Pompey fan's attitude to Saints - only available in 'Envy Green'

3) Maybe you would prefer shirt number three which has a very wide and short shape with matching flat cap as a tribute to Alan Ball for nearly getting them relegated to Division 2.

4) Or how about a shirt with a map of Britain on it - to keep reminding their fans that they are a truly Nationwide club!

5) Finally how about shirt number five which is a traditionally woven garment. Each one has been hand stitched by a Portsmouth player so is slight seconds. We can not guarantee the correct spelling of the word Portsmouth.

To enter the competition simply select the shirt you want to see Portsmouth fans wearing next season and send your entries to Ohhh What A Lovely Shirt Competition, Sports Desk, Southern Daily Echo, Newspaper House, Test Lane, Redbridge, Southampton SO16 9JX or e-mail at the address below.

Please include your name and address and also your telephone number.

Entries must be received by Monday, February 5 and we will announce the winner next week.

Please note that although the prize is tempting this is a competition for Saints fans only and any rogue votes will be weeded out and mercilessly mocked.
