Fawley are to be docked ten points for flouting player registration regulations during last Saturday's ill-tempered London League Four South West local derby with Southampton.

Club secretary Gordon Powell has admitted that the ineligible replacement was given a false identity on the match result card.

No-one seemed to know who the centre was, who came on for Phil Farthing,

Powell later said: "I cannot continue as secretary knowing we have given false information.

"I have tendered my resignation unless we write confessing the error."

That letter was written to Neil Hagerty, the secretary of London League Four South West, and he confirmed Fawley will be docked ten points - two for fielding an ineligible player and eight for supplying false information. For the full story, read tomorrow's Pink.

l LAST week's victory at Guildford took Winchester to within four points of the only two other sides above them in the London League 1 table who they have a realistic chance of catching.

It also promoted them ahead of Thurrock on scoring difference, although the the Essex side have a couple of games in hand on Winchester so highlighting the importance of tomorrow's match between the two at Nuns Road.

Winchester coach, Kevin Gregory recently said: "It is vital we pick up points in those games, and a cup win the week after could kick start our season to get us out of trouble."
