SNOWS As' Graham Pointer gave winning return to action in the Kings Volvo Southampton Table Tennis League.

Pointer returned from a two month break because of a shoulder injury by winning his three singles against a struggling Alpha B team in their Premier Division match-up.

Supported by Chris Wilshere and Gary Longland, Snows stamped their authority as current league leaders by winning the match 9-1.

Meanwhile, Alpha A dropped a valuable point against Snows C allowing a two point gap to develop between themselves and Snows A.

Yiannis Dimas was unbeaten for Alpha with Paul Jackson winning one and Anthony Ellis winning two for Snows C.

Generation 2, currently third in the league, continued their successful run with a convincing win over Snows B 7-3. Charlie Childs and Victor Imiseev were unbeaten for Generation 2.

Waterside A proved too strong against the bottom side Snows D. Taffy Davies of Waterside won all three singles in straight games and Sikander Bawa also chalked up a hat-trick.

However he was pushed all the way by Snows' Steve White who narrowly lost 16-21 in the third game resulting in a 6-4 match score.

After 6-4 and 8-2 victories, Four Ts A are now walking away with Division One.

In the first match against BAT A, Martin Ceresa was undefeated, while Ken Palmer only lost to Jayson Lockyer, and Mark Kimber chipped in with one win.

For the losers, Jason Lockyer won twice and Andrzej Ottembrajt won once.

In the second match against Waterside B, Ken Palmer was unbeaten. and Martin Ceresa and Mark Kimber only lost to Geoff Willis who won Waterside's two games.

BAT A also had a second match, this was a 5-5 draw against Insurance A. Jason Lockyer bagged two, while Barry Wilson and Paul Winteridge chipped in with one apiece.

For Insurance, Kevin Muldowney and Chris Bone won twice and Dave Saxby won once.

BAT's draw takes them out of a relegation slot but they have played more games than the team below them.

A maximum from Ben Hibbard helped Alpha C to a 7-3 win over Hedge End A. David Praine won twice and Andy Tunks once were the other Alpha winners. Colin Butt with two wins and Ken Butt with one, got the games for Hedge End.

* NF NALGO A chalked up a 7-3 win over Snows G in a division two basement battle.

Terry Littlewood was undefeated, while Bernie Leamore and Gary Drodge only lost to Keith Hewitt who, with Sue Hibbard, won the doubles to gain a point for Snows.

NF Nalgo A had different fortunes when they visited Hedge End C, going down 8-2.

Barry Mores was undefeated for Hedge End, while Shapour Mehrkar and Terry Mills each won twice. Terry Littlewood weighed in with two games for Nalgo.

Hedge End B thrashed a weakened BAT B side 9-1. Brian Darch and Ted Baker bagged maximums and reserve Shapour Mehrkar scored two for Hedge End. Richard McClure was the only winner for BAT.

Waterside E now look to be the main candidates for the second relegation place after losing 8-2 to Woolston A. John Butcher hit a maximum three, while Colin Browning and Lee Rosamond each won twice for Woolston.

David Goodyer and Rowland Spencer-Smith each won once for Waterside.

Snows G have moved away from the relegation zone after a 6-4 win over two-man Insurance B.

Keith Hewitt won his two games and partnered by Sue Hibbard to took the doubles which, with the help of three walkovers, won the match. Steve Whiteford and Dan Ashton shared the four games for Insurance.

Four Ts B defeated bottom-placed Waterside F 7-3. Des Ely, David Cosway and Chris Sims claimed two games apiece for Four Ts, while reserve George Beazley won twice and John Slade once for Waterside.
