BEING widowed can be a lonely time as Pat Mason of Totton found out when she lost her husband three years ago.
Pat, who is disabled, couldn't find any local support groups.
After putting a personal advert in the Daily Echo in late 1999 she began to receive calls from others in the area and so started her own support group at her Totton home.
The group has swollen in size to the point that a year ago the venue was moved to the Royal British Legion Club in Totton.
Pat is delighted with the success of her venture and said: "It really means a lot to people, getting support and friendship that wasn't there before."
