SOUTHAMPTON University Players take a nostalgic look back at the 1930s in their latest production, Dancing at Lughnasa.

The moving play, now being performed at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton, is set in County Doneghal just before the festival of Lughnasa and takes a look at the deep passions underlying prim Catholic life.

Director Ron Stannard admits to having been a fan of Brian Friel, writer of the frequently performed play, since he saw another of his productions in Dublin, in the 1980s.

Dancing at Lughnasa is on at the Nuffield until Saturday. Tickets cost £9, with concessions available. For more information, call the box office on 023 8067 1771.
