A DEFENCE minister will be quizzed on the future of a Hampshire military hospital.
Lewis Moonie will be asked to abandon Ministry of Defence plans to move Royal Hospital, Haslar, from Gosport to create a scaled down wing at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.
Gosport MP Peter Viggers will ask the question at an adjournment debate on defence medical services on Thursday.
Mr Viggers wants to make the government aware of the need for a hospital for the Royal Navy and for public in Gosport.
He is suggesting the MoD hands over the Haslar site to the NHS, which it already shares with Royal Navy staff. The NHS can pay to become responsible for the site and bear the cost, while forces medical staff could remain as a major presence.
