YOUNG Gosport gymnast Daine Evans is going places after cartwheeling to early successes in a promising career.

Daine 12, a pupil of Brune Park School, Gosport, who trains six days a week at the Dynamo Club in Hedge End, has been invited to take part in BBC children's programme, Trading Places.

An accomplished gymnast for his age, Daine, along with two girls, is visiting a Russian gymnastic club for two weeks.

In return, three Russian gymnasts will visit his Hedge End club. All the youngsters will feature in an hour-long documentary to be broadcast in the summer.

Daine has been training in gymnastics for more than six years and has achieved success in Hampshire and Southern Region championships. His training is really paying off and he has secured a place on a prestigious trip to compete in Philadelphia, USA, from February 7 to 14.

Daine, who hopes the trip will be successful and good preparation for his Russian ex-perience, paid a glowing tribute to his coaches, Keith Rich-ardson and Debbie Hampson.

He said: "Without their help and advice, I would not have these exciting opportunities to look forward to."
