Bashley'S hopes of taking the New Forest Indoor Cricket League Division 1 title took a knock when they were surprisingly beaten by Esso by two wickets at the Lymington Sports Centre.

Bashley were never able to master the Esso attack and despite good knocks from Steve Latimore (23) and Shaun Lilley (23 not out), they were restricted to 95-4 with Mark Phillips taking 2-29.

Neil Taylor (2-12) kept the Esso chase in check but, with Andy Parrott hitting an unbeaten 30 supported by Kevin Mitchell (23), the Petrolmen won with and over and a half to spare.

Only Neil Williams (24 not out) showed any form as North Baddesley were stopped at 106-4 and then Dean Miller (22) and Steve Taylor (20 not out) set up New Milton's two wicket win off 11.1 overs.

Top scorers in Lymington 2nds' 114-4 were Tony Thorp (30) and Simon Hayes (28 not out). Godshill swept home without loss in ten overs thanks to Christian Pain (26 retired), Ian Young (27 not out) and Paul Newton (21 not out) which ensures Lymington's relegation.

Other results - Division 2: Brockenhurst 148-3 (Alex Lewis 29 not out, Dick Wickison 25 retired, Jon Day 25 not out, Martin Browne 25, Mike Williams 22), Ringwood 94-6 (Glen Davies 43, Mark Lock 2-31).
