Southampton boatbuilder, Moody, based at Swanwick, has again underlined its position as one of the UK's leading names in the marine industry, by scooping the prestigious Best Sailboat award for the Moody 54 at the British Nautical Awards.
The presentation ceremony, which took place at the London Hilton, represents the pinnacle of achievement for boatbuilders and designers.
David Moody, managing director of Moody Marketing & Development, said: "We're absolutely delighted with the award which is a credit to the entire team who work so hard to maintain Moody's reputation.
"It's particularly gratifying, given the European influx of imported boats, that British quality of build and design innovation should be recognised in this way.''
Designed by Bill Dixon and built by Marine Projects, the Moody 54 was conceived specifically as a blue water cruiser that could easily be sailed by two people.
Accommodating up to seven people in style, the centre cockpit design makes maximum use of space, from the raised saloon through to the cabins.
The 54, priced from £345,000 plus VAT, is luxuriously appointed with rich lacquered wood finishes and fine fabrics throughout.
