Hampshire's highway bosses are being called upon to draw up a traffic-calming scheme for a busy West End road.
The plea by Eastleigh borough councillor Donald Horne has been made amid claims that Southern Road has seen the number of vehicles using it increase by 30 per cent.
Mr Horne has put a motion to Eastleigh council's local area committee asking it to urge the county council to act over the road.
He claims that in the two years since traffic-calming measures were brought into West End Road and Telegraph Road, congestion has spiralled out of control in Southern Road.
Mr Horne has also called on county council chiefs to consult local residents on any scheme that may be put together.
