A TEENAGER with learning disabilities hanged himself after his dream of living independently was dashed, an inquest heard.
Michael Kirby, 17, was found hanging from a tree in Totton by a schoolgirl.
Southampton coroner Keith Wiseman said it was one of the most tragic cases he had heard.
The inquest was told that Mr Kirby had planned to move out of his family home in Shorefield Road, Marchwood, to his own accommodation.
But, after meeting his psychotherapist in November, he was told that a mix-up had meant someone else had moved into the house.
Later the same day Mr Kirby committed suicide at a recreation ground in Totton.
His mum, Loraine, said: "He had great learning difficulties at school which resulted in having quite low self esteem and a low opinion of himself for many years."
Mr Wiseman recorded a verdict of suicide.
