EASTBOURNE favourites Toploader flit along the South coast to Southampton in March for their first Guildhall gig.

The band (Joseph Washbourn, Rob Green, Danny Hipgrave and Matt Knight) released their debut album Onka's Big Moka last year, reaching number five in the album charts, and going gold within two weeks.

The key to their success was probably their single, Dancing In The Moonlight, which was the alternative summer single of 2000.

Their Southampton gig on March 22 is part of their first major tour, which also has dates at Reading, Edinburgh, Middlesbrough, Birmingham and London's Brixton Academy.

"We don't need to sit here telling people we're the best thing ever," says guitarist Dan. "I know that in 20 years time you'll be able to put our album on and it'll be a good album. Longevity - that's what we want and we'll get it."
