ANDOVER'S newest food store, Lidl, opened yesterday after flooding of the Western Avenue site postponed opening by a week.

The outlet is one of over 250 Lidl stores in the UK.

Lidl acknowledges its range is limited but the company policy means its branches operate 'in harmony with the local bakeries, butchers, fruit and vegetable and other stores'.

"This way some of the expenditure which currently goes elsewhere will be encouraged back into the community," a spokesman said.
