ONE of Totton's most thriving clubs has a new look for 2001, thanks to support from a nearby supermarket.

The Three Score Club, with a membership of more than 500 people over 60, has been able to redecorate its rooms after a cash donation from Asda.

Now, boring beige walls have become a lively lemon and old curtains have been replaced with gold velvet drapes.

Club chairwoman Maureen Smith is delighted with the makeover.

"We had some damage in December caused by leaks from the roof, which cost a packet to put right and made all the paper hang down," she said.

"Then Asda said we could have this grant of £300, so we got together for a spot of DIY decorating."

The Three Score Club was chosen by Asda staff as their Get Involved project, a national scheme which includes workers helping on such things as pond clearing and garden designing, according to local need.

Simon Shurville, manager of Asda's Totton branch, said: "We chose to work with the Three Score Club because it gave us a real opportunity to give something back to the community where we live.

"When we heard they had some flood damage it gave them a more urgent reason to be helped."
