Matthew Oakley with his weekly insight about Saints.

Our win over Leeds was just what the doctor ordered after two disappointing results in the league.

We owed you, the supporters, something after a miserable day against West Ham - and the team produced the goods with a solid display.

After seeing Leeds win in Rome on Tuesday, we knew we were in for a difficult game.

We prepared well and knew our tactics. It was just a case of adding the motivation and team togetherness.

From the front to the back, the battling was there and when we got our chance the Beatboy showed his class and confidence with a finish that took us into the lead.

Leeds tried the usual stuff but we stood up and were counted - maybe too much! Hassan became too involved and, before we could cool the referee down, he had shown his yellow card to Hassan for the second time.

It could have been costly for the team but we remained strong and took the three points.

A big thank-you to the fans for their part in the win. You kept the atmosphere high, and that kept our performance and concentration levels high, with the result being the right one!
