OVER 100 men and women, members of the long-ago Taskers family, met with handshakes and memories at the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke.

The museum houses several of the beautifully engineered steam engines produced by the famous firm and former managing director, Leonard Fuller, who followed his father, A B Fuller, into the position, conceived the idea of the reunion which turned out to be more successful than he had ever envisaged.

Nowadays, employees are told, with some bluntness, 'a job is not for life', but that was not the case for a Taskers' employee.

Generations of families cycled daily to the factory gates in Anna Valley and spent their entire working lives in the boiler shop, the machine shop, or in the offices and canteen. For the full story see this week's Andover Advertiser.
