POLICE have widened their search for missing Winchester man Benjamin Bailey.

They are appealing to people in the Eastbourne area for information about Mr Bailey, 28, who has not been seen since November 28.

Detectives say his bank card was used in Eastbourne, Sussex, on November 27, the day before he disappeared after visiting his sister in London.

There are fears for Mr Bailey's well-being, as he is known to be depressed.

His parents, Charlotte and Mike Bailey, have publicly appealed for help in finding him.

"We are desperately worried. We haven't seen him for two weeks. He has been confused and is vulnerable.

He has always been independent and reluctant to ask for help," said his mother Charlotte, 55, of Grove Road, Shawford, near Winchester.

Mr Bailey, 54, said Ben's love of the outdoors meant he might have gone to a wild place, such as the South Downs Way, to get away from people.

Benjamin, of St George's Street, is a former pupil at Thornden School, Chandler's Ford, and Barton Peveril College, Eastleigh.

A qualified engineer, he worked in London before he was hit by depression.

He is 6ft tall, of medium build, with short dark-brown hair, and has brown eyes and a pale complexion.

He was wearing a grey and green fleece with blue jeans.

There is a small scar on the centre of his forehead and he had a cut and bruise on the right side of his nose.

Anyone who has seen Benjamin or knows where he is, should call Detective Sergeant Janis Adair at Winchester CID on 0845 045 4545.
