ESSO SAC: An evening league fixture held at Lepe produced 74 pout and a solitary rockling together totalling 31lb 2oz. Heaviest fish, weighing exactly 1lb, was recorded by Geoff Wheeler. Results: 1 Ted Yates 6lb 8oz, 2 Ernie Cuthbertson 4lb 9.25oz, 3 Alan Rowland 4lb 2.50oz, 5 Chris Wheeler 4lb 1oz.

HAMBLE SAC: A shore competition was dominated by flounders, along with a solitary bass. Colin Searles beached five flatties up to 1lb 8oz worth 37 points to win the event ahead of Tony Spridgeon 35, Dave Cook 35, Greg Nolan 29 and Keith Coleman 19 points.

SOUTHAMPTON SAC: Flounders supplied all the action during a midweek shore competition won by Bernard Vaughan with a brace of flatties weighing 3lb 3oz. Others: 2 Frank Steele 2lb 3oz, 3 William Apark 1lb 12oz, 4 Stan Taylor 1lb 3.50oz.

An evening boat competition produced a win for Andy Gunn with a dogfish and a pout weighing 2lb 6.50oz, followed by Paul Williams with a 1lb 13.25oz bass and Chris Barnes with a 10oz pouting.

ELMORE SAC: Flounders provided most of the action during the 14th shore competition, Martyn Thorne including a 1lb 11.50oz flattie in his 7lb 14oz winning bag. Brian Bennett was the runner-up with 4lb 12oz followed by Bill Cawte with 3lb 3oz. The event attracted 16 members.

TIGHT LINE SQUIDDERS SAC: Abbotsbury was the setting for the latest shore competition where poor cod and dogfish supplied limited action. Mike Crompton won the event with 8lb 15oz which included a 1lb 12.25oz dogfish, which was the heaviest fish, followed by Tony Swain and Paul Chessell with 1lb 10.50oz and 1lb 2.25oz respectively.

NEW MILTON SFC: A roving shore fixture produced a good haul of flounders, dogfish, whiting and pouting with Bruce Samber coming out on top with 11lb 5oz. Alan Preston was the runner-up with 4lb 14.50oz followed by Andrew Mapstone 4lb 1.25oz, Colin Preston 3lb 13oz and Ian Day 3lb.
