MEMBERSHIP figures for the Royal British Legion's Eastleigh, Chandler's Ford and District Branch have hit the 200 mark.

At the branch annual meeting president Norman Brown congratulated members on having a very successful year in which saw the completion of the restoration of the Angel of Liberty.

It was also a financially successful year giving Eastleigh the Hampshire county record for the collection for the Poppy Appeal.

He urged members to pledge their support for Poppy Organiser Betty Brown and to help her reach her target of £30,000 for the coming year.

Branch chairman Bob Grant thanked the president and members were reminded of the Festival of Remembrance to be held at The Point on Friday, November 3, at 7.30pm.

He hoped they would also support the Eleventh of the Eleventh of the Eleventh two minutes silence service to be held at the war memorial in the Leigh Road Recreation Ground and the Remembrance Sunday ceremony on the following day.

The president, chairman, and all serving officers and committee members, along with the Rev Richard Davies, were elected unanimously to serve for a further year.
