AN APPEAL has gone out from police for people to be on their guard against buying designer clothes stolen in a £40,000 raid at Lymington.

Detectives investigating the burglary at Sloppy Joe at Terracotta, near Lymington Quay, believe the clothes could be offered for sale in Hampshire or Dorset.

And they are anxious to hear from anyone who sees clothes with the Sloppy Joe logo on them.

There is no other outlet in Hampshire or Dorset which sells the distinctive clothing and about 500 garments were taken from the shop either late last Tuesday or in the early hours of the following morning.

"Most of these items retail for about £60 to £70, so we want to hear from anyone who is offered Sloppy Joe clothing on the cheap," said Lymington-based Dc Glen Burchall.

Anyone with information on the burglary or anyone who sees the clothes offered for sale is asked to contact Dc Burchall on 0845 045 45 45.
