AC DELCO made the most of their second chance in the Southampton Senior Cup Final and carried off the trophy with an extra-time victory over red-hot favourites Blackfield & Langley at The Dell.

Remember Blackfield were just 15 minutes from claiming the cup themselves on April 3, leading 2-0 when a powercut blacked out The Dell. Delco had played badly on the night and vowed to do better second time around. They were true to their word and deserved their first-ever Southampton Senior Cup triumph in a final which either side could have sewn up in normal time.

It was a night of missed chances and Martin Spiers for Blackfield and Matt Targett for Delco had both set the pattern before Targett headed the underdogs into a 30th- minute lead from a Matt Mollicone corner.

Within five minutes Blackfield were back on terms, John Rowley forcing the ball home from close range after Spiers had drilled the ball low across the face of goal.

Blackfield, battling for the Hampshire League Premier Div-ision title, had shaded the first half against Delco rivals who are just middling it in Division 1, but after the break Delco began to look the side with the football to win it.

They had more of the ball and were pulling Blackfield about at the back but the most clear-cut second-half chances fell to the Watersiders with Nathan Oakley and Rowley missing the best of them - Rowley when he had time to beat Delco keeper Mark Evans who made some fine saves.

Delco missed a sitter too when Alex Baird failed to put the finishing touches to a terrific move in the last minute of normal time. But Baird turned from villain to hero when he grabbed the winner with ten minutes of extra-time left, hooking over the keeper after Ian Nash and Rob Hamerton had done the spadework.

Lymington & New Milton ended the season on a high by beating Eastleigh 2-0 in the Russell-Cotes Cup final at Fawcett's Field.

Linnets, who were pipped to Wessex League and League Cup honours by Wimborne, at last lifted some silverware thanks to second-half goals by Leigh Phillips (penalty) and Brett Phillips.

Newport retained the Isle of Wight Gold Cup at Cowes with Gary Green, Steve Leigh and an own goal accounting for the 3-1 demise of battling Brading.
