A HAIRDRESSER from Southampton is busting to strip off to her undies in a bid to raise money for charity.

Sharon Gannaway, from Aldermoor, is taking part in a massive sponsored event to help women suffering from breast cancer.

The 30-year-old, who also works as a personal trainer, is joining 5,000 other women in a power-walking midnight marathon - wearing just their bras.

The 26-mile national event in London has been organised by the charity Breast Cancer Awareness. Sponsored by Playtex and Wonder-bra, it aims to raise a greater awareness of the dangers of breast cancer.

Mrs Gannaway, of Myrtle Road, said: "It is a cause that I particularly believe in and an event I wanted to get involved with.

"I have already managed to raise £200 and I want to collect as much as I can."

She is appealing to people across the region to dig deep into their pockets and sponsor her for the challenge.

She added: "I am doing this on my own, and I am really looking forward to it, although the distance is a daunting thought."

The race will start from Battersea Park, London, at midnight on May 13. Anyone who would like to sponsor Sharon for the event can contact her on 023 8049 0628.
