THE WIDOW of popular Winchester GP David Shedden said a big thank-you to hospital staff who cared for her husband.

Katherine Shedden handed over a cheque for £3000 to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. The money was raised in memory of the GP at a memorial service to commemorate his life, which was held in Winchester Cathedral in March. Mrs Shedden presented the cheque to Dr Chris James, consultant haematologist to thank staff for all the support they gave her and her husband while he was being treated for a bone marrow disorder.

She said: "The family wanted to contribute something to the hospital which cared for my husband. The dedicated care of the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital and the Riverside Practice far exceeded the calls of duty and nothing was too much trouble for them."
