Southampton Dolphins, best known as a development club for younger swimmers, gained a clear win in the Penguins-hosted novice gala at River Park Leisure Centre. Despite fielding only one boy aged over 11 in a gala with categories up to 13 years, Dolphins took 18 wins.
Dolphins' individual winners included Jamie Langridge (their sole 11-year-old), Oliver Summers, Charlie Butterwick, Lewis Callen, James Mitchell, David Vella and James Roberts. Girls' individual wins came from Angela Fleat, Melissa Mills, Lauren Mills and Erin Marshall.
Eastleigh Fleming Park battled through for third with Nicola Gentles among their speedier performers.
Hosts Winchester City Penguins placed fourth and sixth with their two teams, close behind Eastleigh and the re-emerging Hamble Jets respectively. Penguins' individual victories came from Lucy Weavind, Alex Cartwright, Charlotte Macey, Anna Broadway and Jenny Stride.
Result: Southampton Dolphins 196, Havant & Waterlooville 181, Eastleigh Fleming Park 155, Winchester City Penguins A 152, Hamble Jets 111, Penguins B 107.
