PALMERSTON did not win the battle yet they won the war when they overcame the Hampshire Past Presidents' Association.
The county men started at a great rate of knots building a 42-34 lead at five ends but two Palmerston rinks turned the tide with the result that although Hampshire won four of the eight rinks with another drawn, the hosts triumphed 165-148.
Top winning rink for Palmerston was Dennis Whitehead, Dave Lolley, Doug Crabb and skip Tony Claydon who scored a resounding 33-14 success. Best Past Presidents' rink consisted of Keith May, John Bowley, John Holman and skip Ray Mills.
