The date: Saturday February 12. The place: Hillsborough. The day the music died.

Sheffield Wednesday, infamous for their 'barmy army' and loud pumping supporters band went totally quiet.

Premiership football is the place to be on a Saturday afternoon yet outside the ground there was no buzz or excitement. Inside this once great stadium was half empty.

If it wasn't for over 2,000 travelling Saints fans there would have been total silence.

But Wednesday weren't 'down' before the start of this match. In fact with their recent run the Owls may have been favourites to beat the drop if they had won but everybody seemed resigned to the Nationwide League.

At least on the Titanic the band played until the ship had sunk. Here they thought it already had.

Even the announcer failed to muster any enthusiasm and sounded more like Alan Partridge at a Country Fete than a ring leader of the fans - no Wednesday supporters even seemed to care what the scores from the other games were. So with their apathy and lack of songs I decided to write some myself:
