A DRIVER was killed after losing control of his car which cartwheeled into the central reservation of a Hampshire motorway.
The accident happened at lunchtime yesterday on the westbound carriageway of the M27 at Hedge End.
Police are not naming the victim until family have been informed, but a spokeswoman said he was in his early 20s. Two lanes of the motorway were closed while emergency services removed the wreckage of the black Peugeot 205 GTi.
Traffic officers also closed the outside lane of the eastbound carriageway to allow the removal of a damaged lamppost. It is believed no other vehicle was involved. Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.
