A TERRIFIED schoolgirl was knocked unconscious by three teenage girls who sat on her in a Southamp-ton park.

The 15-year-old had her hair pulled and was punched and kicked repeatedly around the head until she blacked out.

And when she regained consciousness, she was hit again and shouted at off for coming round.

Police said she suffered cuts, bruises, a bloody nose and a broken finger as she desperately tried to defend herself during the bizarre attack in Hoglands Park.

Today police revealed how the schoolgirl attackers, believed to be aged between 13 and 16, followed their victim along Above Bar before the assault.

Southampton Central crime-desk spokesman Edward Harrap said the trio had confronted the girl outside MacDonald's restaurant, when one accused her of giving her a funny look.

The group then followed her up Above Bar past H Samuel jewellers and through Hoglands Park before pouncing on her near Debenham's.

After knocking the girl to the ground, the trio sat on her and kicked and punched her until she passed out.

"This would have been a traumatic experience for anybody, let alone a 15-year-old schoolgirl," said Mr Harrap.

The victim, who has not been named but lives in Bursledon, told police she believed her attackers went to her old school in Southampton.

Meanwhile police were today sifting through city centre CCTV footage in the hope the teenage thugs were captured on camera.

All three were white and between 5ft and 5ft 4in tall.

One had blonde hair in a bun and was smoking, the second had dark hair with blonde streaks also in a bun, a pierced nose, two earrings in each ear and wore a white sweatshirt top.

The third girl had red hair in a ponytail, glitter make-up, a pierced nose, black jacket and hipster trousers.

Anyone with information about the attack, which happened around 5pm on Sunday, is asked to call Southampton Central crimedesk on 01703 335444 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
