TOMORROW is the day that, traditionally, you get out your basin and wooden spoon and start your Christmas preparations by getting to grips with your Christmas pud.

Stir-up Sunday is its official title when, on the first Sunday before Advent, the Christmas puds are mixed and the whole family has a stir of the mixture making a wish. A silver shilling (or the likes of) is then thrown into the mixture and the lucky finder on Christmas Day has his or her wish granted in the forthcoming year.

Well, that's how the tradition goes but how many of us can actually face a heavy, stodgy lump of pudding lashings of turkey, roast and stuffing

But don't fret. We have solved the dilemma and will guide you through, step by step, our recipe for a lighter alternative that isn't too rich and won't leave you feeling more stuffed than the turkey.

The pudding is great because it reheats well in the microwave so on Christmas Day it only takes minutes not hours to heat through and will not leave your kitchen all steamed up.
