FORGET the Spice Girls! When it comes to Girl Power no-one socks it to 'em better than eight-year-old Eve Selby.
Soccer-mad Eve is believed to be the first - and only - girl to score against the boys in this year's newly-formed Eastleigh and District Mini-Soccer League.
The St Francis schoolgirl, of Calshot Drive, Chandler's Ford, plays for a team also called St Francis. The sizzling goal sensation followed up her previous week's deadly double strike against Littleton Lions with another goal in last Sunday's 5-0 win over Winchester City B.
St Francis manager Lee Pomery said: "Being a girl, she gets a bit of stick from the opposition but I find the best way to shut them up is by scoring She is a cracking little player.''
"Eve really is a cracking little player and she was voted our Player-of-the-Year last season. "Her goal the previous week really was something special.
"She chested the ball down from a corner and volleyed it straight into the net from the edge of the penalty area. Her goal celebration was to run off the pitch to give her dad Andrew a big hug.''
Eve, of Calshot Drive, Chandler's Ford, said: ''I would like play for the Saints Ladies when I get older but when I leave school I want to become a vet.''
