INTEREST in luxury waterside apartments on the banks of the River Itchen in Southampton has surpassed all expectation. Although Quay 2000 will not be ready for occupation until early in the new year, over half of the 50 apartments have already been reserved.

The development comprises 42 two- and three-bedroom and eight one-bedroom apartments, built to a high level of specification. Prices for the spacious two-bedroom accommodation start from £127,950, with one-bedroom flats starting at £100,000.

Buyers attracted include businessmen from Belgium and Texas.

Sales consultant Sally Edwards, who is based at the Horseshoe Bridge site, said: "There's no doubt Southampton is increasingly being seen as the place to live.''

Most of the 50 apartments are south facing. The ground-floor dwellings are furnished with French doors, which open onto beautiful gardens that lead to the water's edge. Eight of the apartments will have generously proportioned drawing and dining rooms, together with two balconies and each has an optional private garage.

They will be ready for occupation early next year.
