A TEN-year-old pupil at a Titchfield school has scored top marks in national tests - a year early.
Matthew Hopkins, a pupil at West Hill Park School, scored a six in his science SATS test, taken by all eleven-year-olds in the country. Last year only 228 children in the whole country achieved a level 6 in the science test.
Matthew, who lives in Fareham, is taught by science master Hamish Ellwood.
Ninety-three per cent of the school's eleven-year-olds scored level 4 and above in the tests.
''Both Matthew and his teacher are to be congratulated and our result shows that science is really making a big impact at the school,'' said headmaster Edward Hudson.
