THE first round of The Christchurch Evening Series on the club's Sombrely Lake saw victory go to Nick Greek who took 29lb 1oz of bream and tench on the ground bait feeder and worm to score easily from Steve Martin who took 14lb 11oz of skimmers and small bream also on the feeder.

Steve Blowers finished third with 13lb 9oz on the pole which included a bonus big tench. Bournemouth Lodge's Steve Hemmings finished fourth with 11lb 3oz with Geoff Charman fourth with 9lb 10oz.

Broadlands Lower Lake has certainly reached top form over the last month and the two matches over the course of the weekend saw excellent returns. Barry Pasco took a fantastic mixed bag of tench, roach and bream on the waggler and corn for 60lb 6oz to get the better of Clive Gillett who also took a whopping 58lb 8oz mixed bag to the scales with Ian Snook third with 43lb 10oz.

The Christchurch Angling Centre fixture saw Mick Dawkins take a 33lb 6oz bag of roach and tench to shade Paul Hollyoak with 31lb 9oz with Ron Edwards third with 28lb 6oz and Paul Edwards fourth with 22lb 15oz.

Eastleigh & District AC mixed pairs on Rooksbury Park saw victory for Darren Baldwin and Karen Bishops who took 16lb 15oz of tench and bits to deprive past winners of the event Sue and Derek Brittain who took 12lb 7oz of carp and bits with Jeff and Judy Mason third with 4lb 2oz.

The Eastleigh Schools' event on the Bottom Lake at Stoneham saw the venue out of sorts with Toynbee winning the senior schools event with 7lb 13oz with Quilley second with 9oz. In the junior schools Nightingale took 9lb 15oz to the scales to get the better of Crescent with 6lb 12oz and Norwood with 2lb 6oz. Individually Eastleigh & District member Sean O'Rourke fishing for Toynbee in the seniors won with 7lb 13oz of bream, tench and crucians, while Leon Doyle fishing for Nightingale won the junior schools with 5lb 9oz.
