SARISBURY Green's Doris Haskett hopes to live into the next millennium, because then she will have been alive during three centuries.

But, meanwhile, Doris, of Bridge Road, has been quietly celebrating her 100th birthday. She reached her century on Monday, and is now looking forward to a big family party at the weekend.

Sipping shandy, she told how she was one of 15 children born to Jersey parents.

Her grandmother was midwife to Lily Langtry when the royal mistress gave birth to a baby boy, reputedly fathered by the then Prince of Wales, later Edward VII.

Doris, also known as Dolly, married Cecil Haskett at West End in 1925.

She was widowed in 1969.

"I've done everything in moderation.

"I've never wasted anything. I've saved all my life and now I'm spending the money,'' she said.

Today Doris lives with 77-year-old Peter de Ste Croix, one of her three surviving brothers.

He said: "At the end of this year, she will have lived in three centuries.''
