SPONSORED TEAM RAISE £1,000 TO BUY NEW LIMBS BRAVE Justin Gregory put his new state-of-the-art artificial leg through its paces at the weekend as he led dozens of friends and relatives on a ten-mile sponsored walk to raise more than £1,000 for replacement limbs.

The Southampton youngster, who had never walked more than one mile in his life, completed the first quarter of the route along Avon Valley Path around Ringwood with the aid of his new limb.

It was fitted at a private clinic last month following a successful Daily Echo campaign to raise £2,450 to pay for a leg good enough to let him play football.

Funds are still pouring in for Justin, of Cumbrian Way, Millbrook, and his family have pledged to continue collecting money to make sure he has enough to buy replacement limbs from Dorset Orthopaedic Clinic, Blashford, as he grows.

His mother Jeanette said: "We organised this walk to keep the fundraising going.

"Justin himself completed two-and-a-half miles which shows just how much his life has been transformed since his new leg was fitted.

"He is a different child and we have to thank everyone who has contributed to our appeal and who took part in the walk."

Echo reporter Adam Postans was one of more than 30 oth-ers who fin-ished the walk.

Our drive to get the youngster his new leg, A Goal For Justin, has been shortlisted in the prestigious UK Press Gazette's Campaign of the Year award after the money was raised in just one week.

Northam businessman John Lagerwaard donated the whole amount while other kind-hearted readers made pledges totalling more than £1,000.
