A BRAND new primary school at Chandler's Ford was celebrating a double success after staging its first summer fair.

The main aim was to bring the new Knightwood School in Bellflower Way and the community together.

But the event - which brought school families plus neighbours from the Valley Park area flocking in - also raised at least £1,500, with organisers still assessing the final figure.

Children dressed as knights and princesses, in keeping with the medieval theme of the event, while staff and parent helpers donned colourful jesters' hats. A bouncy castle was popular with children, while the barbecue and drinks in Sir Guzzle-a Lot's Banqueting Hall was a huge hit with parents and visitors.

Headteacher Chris Nuttall sent out her thanks and congratulations to the Knightwood School Association committee for making Knightwood's first summer event such a hit.
