THIS week's winner has certainly conjured up more than his fair share of "toil and trouble" in the past.

And Salem, who shares his name with the famous historical home of witchcraft, is doing a magic job living up to the pedigree of his infamous name.

But the troublesome bulldog has still got his owners Sharon Knowlton and fiance Mark Johnson we-ll and truly under his spell.

Sharon, from Woolston in Southampton, said: "He's always up to mischief and is a real handful. He bites flower heads off, runs off with slippers - you name it, he'll go off with it. But he's a big softie really."

The playful pup recently celebrated his first birthday - an anniversary he is fortunate to see. Sharon explains: "When he was born his mother had to have a Caesarian. When they cut her open they cut part of his foot, removing four of his toes and two days after his birth he stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated."
