SAFETY messages to students at Southampton's two universities are being reinforced following the recent spate of attacks in the city's parks.
Welfare staff at both Southampton Solent University and Southampton University have issued advice to students on staying safe.
The student safety drive comes as police today revealed that they have made seven arrests following an undercover operation in Hoglands Park.
A team of 12 plain clothes officers made the arrests for a range of offences, including possession of class A drugs and affray, following daytime surveillance.
As part of an investigation codenamed Operation Jonesville they also arrested two men wanted in connection with other crimes.
A police spokesman said: "This shows that the police have taken the problems in Hoglands Park seriously. However our advice would remain the same. The parks are safe to use during the day but at night people should not walk through them alone."
