A HAMPSHIRE MP is demanding a crackdown on the use of new terror laws, which he claims are being misused by police on a regular basis.

Winchester MP Mark Oaten today slammed Hampshire police for having what he branded a "Big Brother" attitude.

He spoke out after a 21-year-old student was warned by officers for taking photographs of parts of the M3, as revealed in yesterday's Daily Echo.

Liberal Democrat home affairs spokesman Mr Oaten is worried that Britain is becoming increasingly obsessed with new laws which he believes are not being administered properly.

He told the Daily Echo: "This is another reason why we should oppose ID cards and overbearing terrorist laws.

"We are becoming a Big Brother country and the powers to hold people are being misused."
