TWINS Jade and Leigh Holes have been signed by Chelsea and are now playing for their U16 School of Excellence team each week.

The girls recently turned 15 and have just started their GCSE courses at the Romsey School. They had attended trials for Arsenal and

Fulham before Chelsea swooped for them both to fill places in their defence.

Jade, who has been playing for local side Riverside Strikers for three years, is a centre back, while Leigh, an attacking midfielder, has been part of the Southampton-based club for six years.

So far they have played four matches winning three, against Brighton, Colchester and Leyton Orient and losing just one to Millwall. Like the Premiership team they are top of their league.

Their training regime is already very intense.

Pre-season training in-volved eight hours of action every Wednesday led by the Chelsea coaching staff and now they go up to the club's training centre in Cobham every Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

It seems Mum and Dad, who drive them there, are just as dedicated.

To mark the start of the season the girls were invited to a kit presentation evening, where they were handed their Chelsea shirts by club captain John Terry.

Jade said: "He was really friendly, wishing us all the best for the season and signing autographs."

Leigh added: "We are two of the youngest in the team, as most of the others are already 16. We hope to play well and keep our places so that next year we can get into the Chelsea Women's reserves."
